Greenville, SC – Greenville Federal Credit Union was named Business Champion of the Year by Junior Achievement Upstate, SC.
Junior Achievement (JA) presented the award during their JAm Fest 2019 event, recognizing the credit union’s commitment to consistently inspiring its employees to support JA, bringing the real world of work into the classroom, contributing to the vitality of our community, and empowering generations of young people to own their economic success.
The credit union has provided support to JA for
more than 30 years. Doris Wofford, Senior
Vice President of Accounting and Finance, is a long-time volunteer for JA serving on the organization’s board of directors and as one of many of the
credit union’s employee volunteer JA teachers. The credit union participates annually
in the JA Biz Bowl fundraiser, sponsoring as many as five teams each year. In
2018 the credit union awarded JA one of five $10,000 grants as part of its 50th
Anniversary Thanks and Giving Grants program.
Since its inception, Greenville Federal Credit Union has placed a strong emphasis on supporting local children and educators through community outreach initiatives. Credit union members and employees actively volunteer time and resources with many local organizations. “One of the credit union’s core values is to be involved in the community, and Junior Achievement represents a perfect fit for our employees to give back” notes credit union President Paul Hughes in the recently released “Why JA?” video.
